Just noticed some rust along the seams of the wheel arches in the engine bay.Not gone through yet but wouldn't like to start poking a screwdriver about  Whats the best way to try and slow the tin worm down ?

Cut it out and weld it up! Only way - or you will end up like this!

Then you will have dodgy electrics, as all the electrics/relays are behind!

that's not bad, mine was a lot worst than that!!

as said before, the best way is to cut it off and weld a plate in

Would have done it by now (stripped today to do it) only ran out of wire!

Oh well - just hope the rain holds off til the missus gets home with the new wire!

yep! happened to me too...

ran out of wire halfway through the day.. had to shove everything back in the garage, lock it, get in the car and go and buy more wire... bloody annoying it was!

you think that was bad ? this was the one ive just done :)

if the inner wings have started then you'll be best to get ahead and change the whole thing cos other wise you will spend all your time patching things up - andf then you'll have to do the whole thing.
I got replacement inner wings off a guy on ebay - yrm metal solutions - they were brilliant, good metal, easy to fit and look the part now they are done.

Thanks for the advice. How much would a small mig welder cost ? .The sills need doing so might ask Father Christmas for one.

I got mine off ebay, a SIP100 and was about 40 or something, cant remember... second hand of course.

its small, but did a good job, you cant only weld for about 45min and then you have to stop as it overheats..but buying that and learning how to weld saved me a shed load of money

you dont really want a little mig - get one that does to ~150Amp, cos discos are made of thicker steel ( 1mm) than some of the jap rubbish, so eventualy you'll end up wanting a better one anyway.

well.. I've used a SIP100 (little mig) and did the job with no worries...

and many other bits, including front inner arches, rear arches, etc...

You could buy second hand or hire one. There are plenty of places that do new one at a good price though! A sealy mighty mig 100amp gasless is 130 quid!
