Hi All,

Trying to swap the front suspension and was assembling the shocks and bushes on the bench (luckily). Using Monroe D6628 (i think M6628 is the same) using standard LR bushing and washers and there is no room for the nut - what is wrong or am I missing something? Should there be thinner bushes or is the shock wrong?

A bit confusing

Happened to me with monroe's. Found I had just enough thread to fit the nut on the bottom using a thin tempory washer and squeezed the bush's up. A bit later was able to fit the original washer.

When you try to fit them, you should be able to apply enough hand pressure to squash the bush(s) enough to start the nut. I had a similar issue with my britpart shocks.

I replaced my rear damper bushes on my standard original dampers and had a hell of a job getting the bottom nuts on, one side I just managed to get a bite on the thread but on the off side I could not get the nut on with the washer and had to compress the bush with a thinner washer as mentioned in above reply then fit the correct washer but it took ages and a lot of bad language and pulling down on the damper to get the nut on.

Thanks - I have no chance to get the washers on - spoke to suppliers apparently there might be a bush set that should have been supplied - will see what comes through - thanks for the comments

Monroe shocks use a special bush that’s thinner than the standard Land Rover ones. You may be able to buy a set of bushes from a Monroe stockist, or there are some polyurethane ones available that fit apparently.

When I had this problem I just changed the whole shocks instead as it was easier and then I could get standard bits.
