Hi Guys, Hope you have all had a good weekend. I am on the look out for a defender & am keen to get the opinion of owners. What would you class as good mileage? Naturally the lower the better but when would you start thinking its had too many miles? I'm seeing cars that have done between 100k - 200k+

Thank you in advance!

I changed my Defender speedo because here in Ireland we changed to Km from miles. I could not see the smaller Km details so paid €40 for a brand new speedo from a company in Cyprus. I only have about 25,000 km on the clock so you might like to look for other tell tales signs of high mileage that is much more difficult to hide.

look for history that correlates to the mileage you see on the odometer. BUT do remember this is big boys meccano so it is plug and play.
review the MOT history on line to see if it goes up and down.....

an Engine and gearbox can be fubarred very easily if oil is not changed or the vehicle is abused.

I personally thing an actual drive on the vehicle in all circumstances and making sure it is up to temp means a lot more. Then make your decision .

Cheers

There is no such thing as too many miles on a land rover, mines just past 200,000 and the gearbox is no problem . Why? because I replaced it. A defender is, as they say, a meccano set and a well maintained 200.000 defender is better than a 50,000 mile one never serviced.
