Mazda RX8 Seats into a 90

Hi guys

We have just recently bought a pair of Mazda rx8 front seats to fit into our 1988 90, i don't have a problem in making them fit but struggling to work out the wiring to operate the drivers power seat, i know that the yellow plugs are for the air bags in the seats which i need to cut right back as they will not be used.

just thought as these seats seem to be the seat of choice at the mo but is there anyone out there who has actually fitted and wired these seats up into their truck who can tell me how i wire them into my 90.

i know its a big ask but i am not really good at reading wiring diagrams as the wiring diagrams for these seats look like a mine field

Well i thought this but everyone is saying just cut the wiring right back but it does make sense removing them completely

Drop in the engine as well!

I've heard them called something similar by Japcrap drivers

Dunno if this is any use. Electrics aren't my strongpoint. I do know that on the RX8 all the seat controls work with the ignition off and off the top of my head there are only two wires on the seat plug that are used positive and earth but I'll check that tomorrow if this doesn't get resolved tonight.

Cheers SteveD, yeah there seems to be 3 terminals to each plug i take it 2 are live and 1 is neg is that right

stay away from the yellow wire ,my mate put rx8 seats in his volksrod and set the side airbag off in his face trying to wire them in :lol:

Yeah that's the yellow plug chris.

Ok cheers steve i really appreciate it

OK best I can work out is:

Seat movement
Grey +12v
Purple Earth

Lumbar support

Yellow/red stripe +12v
White/Yellow stripe Earth


The others are for the seat heater, seat belt etc.

How do theese bolt in? In the seat base romp valve like the standard 90 seats?

They look great!

The rear bolts are perpendicular to the floor, the front ones are parallel to the floor. Is that what you meant?

Cheer's steve thats a big help i am not to bothered with the heater'd seat and as for the seat belts we will use are originals anyway

Yeah not sure yet we will have ago at fitting them in soon just doing a few other things on the 90 first but will post pic's when we do

toms3 I have a mate from Boston that breaks RX8s and he regularly travels to Batley dropping bits off. Want his number?

The breaker i got mine from has another set in ( all black ) leather for £160 same price as mine but we offered him £100 and he bit my hand off, if you are interested i will find out the name, address, and phone number as we just went up on speck

seats are in great nick and they will remove them for you
