So mayo in coolant system in the td5. We had replaced oil cooler but problem got worse after a long journey and now the gunk is proper thick and isnt shifting with a hose trying to flush it out.

We can sort out the solving the problem of what caused it and subsequent fixing of said problem but how do we shift the solid gunk that's now absolutely in every nook and cranny in the coolant system ?

Cheers guys

What a day yesterday was...thick grey sludge everywhere. So two bottles of fairy liquid later all the hoses are now clear, two bottles of dishwasher liquid in the block and radiator and four hours of jet washing and we're at the point we can reassemble things today.
So definately new thermostat needed as we know thats shot and then plan to run it and flush a few times then take it for a sniff test at the garage.
Anything else we ought to be thinking of ?

just run it on water till your sure its ok and clean

The last few drops of oil in the cooling system will eventually migrate up to the header. Check every couple of days by dipping your finger in the filler spout. Take the surface film off by dipping with a piece of rolled up kitchen roll. Worked for me.
