I would hazrad a guess, if you bought some heavy duty runners and employed a carpenter for the day, it would be a lot less money?

If it is not bolted down, what stops it tipping over with the drawer fully extended?

Kin hell. That’s some dosh for what it is!! I built draws for mine. No way near as pretty but no drama if they get bashed either. If never pay that for a draw! Like above! Chat to a good chippy thed do a decent job for 200 less than that!

Exactly what I was thinking, they reckon as it weighs 50kg and due to its length they've never heard of one tipping over. I am more concerned about where it ends up in an accident to be honest.

Yes I know I could make one, but it'll look sh*t!

Decent saw bench, will give nice clean quare cuts, cover it in thin carpet and the cuts are not so important?
I suppose if you think about it, does it really need the posh runners, surely wooden runners with some wax would work?

Runners are obtainable from a German company cost approx £150. They handle 100kg

I found similar.

yes mate is wood look **** (pun intended) or ok if you or I made it but if my mate hadve made it it would’ve looked the dogs. I get that it’s nice to have a smart one though

£180 in materials (250kg runners where £100 of that! Eurofitdirect) and roughly a full days work. Not a drawer i know but easily could be. I cant believe how much some of these firms charge.

Won’t be as smart as you’d like but I made for my hilux then butchered again to fit 90

The Masai item isn’t THAT expensive, when you look at the price of some other aftermarket parts.
And it does look to be a quality item.
I’ve seen door hinges at more than that. And try getting a genuine front bash plate, £495 from LR
Hell they want £240 for a standard front bumper!

I’ve been looking at similar products and they are all very expensive; I’m planning on buying some heavy duty drawer runners and building my own. I’m sure it’ll come in much cheaper and hopefully work just as well. I’m still in the very first stages of planning though, so unfortunately, sorry I can’t give you much help at the moment.

This is the set that I made.

Probably cost me £75 all in, 1 x full 8x4x3/4" sheet ply, 2 x pairs of heavy duty full extension drawer runners. The rest I had kicking about in stock, screws/handles/checker plate. I am a chippy so not that bothered about design/finish as it was for myself, and I'm not that precious about the 90 anyway. I thought long and hard about a locking system, just to stop the drawers opening while laning etc, ended up drilling through the top into the drawer front and dropping a big (brake retainer) split pin in. Simple, cheap and it actually works.
Just make a box with a divider (to hang the runners on) and then a couple of box type drawers and front with something to hide the gap left by the drawer runners. Don't bother with fancy joints, modern woodglue and screws will do on butt joints.
And make sure you fix it down well, regardless of what anyone else says.

That’s great work, looks really good.

But if you can’t make your own, is £600 overpriced for a bespoke one? I can’t imagine they sell thousands of them so they will probably need to be individually hand made.

If you really want to spend money, how about £275 for a pair of front rubber mats? Now that’s expensive

I couldn’t make one as nice as frog hopper and maybe when I do the interior up I’ll buy and get one made. My mrs has full crate system and draws in her hilux built from some kind of composite and cost a hell of a lot but it is smart

How much?!!! I could put up with an awful lot of S**t* with the change I got from a DIY alternative.;)

FWIW, I have side windows from the OP's quoted source which started shedding paint after 6 months. The company's response to my complaint was less than positive, ill-informed and, frankly, dismissive. So, for the price, I'd go the DIY route.

I’ve see a few with just a plywood Sheet across the wheel arches all fancy carpeted and rubber matted and really useful or wolf boxes underneath.

it really did look good to fasten the sheet to the floor They just installed tie down points on the floor and used a couple of d links and a few links of chains on each corner.

I didn't go with that company in the end! I get the fact i could make one for half the cost but I know it'll look sh*t like most of the homemade ones I see. When it turns up and is fitted I'll post some photos.

If anyone's interested, I have a slide-out base that came with my Defender 110 that is serious engineering, serious weight too, and the receipt says it cost 600 notes. I took it out 'cos I wanted to have a floor I could stand on instead of slide out, but it extends rearwards for however long the 110 Utility floor is (about 1.8m?).

PM me if you're interested in making an offer and collecting this from NE Scotland sometime after The Plague has passed.
