hi all,

looking for some advice, thinking about making the fabled 100 inch from a dead disco, am happy that body work is tricky. etc. however.....

what paperwork would need to be filled in, i know that the insurance would need a nice pretty letter to tell them of all work, but apart from that, hwo needs to know what? is it as simple as a letter th the DVLA?

Any and all advice/Experience welcome!

got, seen, notes made, dreams done, prices listed. :D:D

unfortunately for me the episode where he fills all the paperwork, wrights letters and sells his sole to get it on the road was not in the box set! lol

Got that episode on re-run, even the wife could now do it with her eyes closed :D,

Once got the time and the ok from the one in charge, will be making a nice thread, just want all the facts before starting. i know that if i keep the engine, box, axles and chassis i keep the reg, however that is all.

now this will be worth watching good luck go and find mark williams dvd on a 4x4 is born
that might be usefull

Even better, watch the Mark Evan's DVD.

You put it down as a discovery or range rover, keep the engine, axles and boxes and just change the body on it.

so far, the dirty bit has no questions, have searched high and low, seen loads of info on the hard work, however the paper work has never been advertised. it is this i would like advice on

Im no eggspurt but surely it would still be down to the sva/o test point system?

The more of the original car you dont use you will lose points for right?

the points system will determine it still a disco...its all standard stuff with a fenda body!

the best thing to do is ring vosa/dvla till you get the right answer... thats what my mate did with his 110 bobtail

Awesome. I shall ring round and annoy till I get the right person/ answer.

Once I get the time and funds (plus the ok from her in doors) project 100 will begin! I will also be starting a full thread here. Mirroring mark but including any and all paperwork!

In the meantime anyone with more info, contact details would be great.

Regarding the points system, I have found loads on that and as such will be keeping chassis and all running gear original (barring gaskets lol)

It's a body chance however to fit the new x member is chassis work which includes shortening by a considerable length so weather this counts as body only change or chassis modification is where you need to find out where you stand.

So that could be a potential stumbling block! Will need to make some calls before completing then in case the chassis work will need to be inspected!

I wonder how many people have actually made these road legal, most ive seen have just been extreme off road beasts.

usually if the chassis engine and running gear is the same then the you would have enough points for keep it on the same plate with a single vehical test etc but putting new outriggers and a new rear out rigger on i dont know what they would say.

anyone done it??

This is my mates 100 inch V8. The most capable Landy I've seen in action/driven:

It was this vehicle precisely which got me into the whole Land Rover & off roading scene.

Fail to believe how amazing it is on a few counts

1. The side steps are very low,
2, its 100 inch,
3, std shafts or at least stubs mean its not driven hard,

Sorry but a well prepped v8 90 in the hands of a regular trials driver will **** over it IMHO.

That said its probably not bad as a play day greenlaning hack

Here we go... Every hero knows somebody that has something that is better than the next person's something and his capabilities.

I'm referring to my experiences and what I've done. No bugger else's.

In my experience, Jai_landrover tends to know what he is talking about. \i see no detrimental comments in the post... only obseravtions.

He's probably right!
