Im planning on swapping out my non locking lt230 front output housing, for possibly the Ashcroft kit or suitable piece from a good donor, with a locking mech. Im confident i could do this on the bench, but is it possible with the box in the car? Its a D2 obviously, Auto facelift.
I think i can do it looking from top and below?
If i get the housing off, i am assuming i am ok to leave that whole diff assembly in situ, then just swap my bearing and shim over to the donor output housing, then back on? Do i need to remove the hi low detent ball or can it stay in if i leave the diff cluster untouched? Dont want that ball getting lost on the bowels of the box!
Any advice gratefully received.
