Hello all,

Just a quick post to introduce myself: my name is David Phillips and I'm a long-time Land Rover fan.

Some of you may know me. For many years I was an editor on LRO magazine, but last year I switched to Land Rover Monthly, for whom I write features and take photographs. I also write the news pages, so if you have anything you'd like to draw my attention to, please get in touch. My email is [email protected]

I have also written and published two ebooks about Land Rovers on Amazon's Kindle, namely: Land Rovers Uncovered and Land Rover Adventures in Africa. I've got more planned, as soon as I get time to write them.

I've also written books on pike fishing and the River Nene, which I live near in east Northamptonshire.

I do run my own website: www.nenemedia.com to tell more about what I do, but to be honest I struggle to find time to update it as regularly as I should.

I know I am just too bloody nice sometimes, unless its about these bloody Gaylanders, have you heard the doors fall orf when they go through puddles? it is also said that the drivers of such vehicles can be identified through the mince in their step or the curlers in their pockets.
Now Im not so sure about the OP but my guess is he doesnt drive a Landy, otherwise we would have had the usual guff about I drive a ..........., in my opinion, and remember it is magnanimous, this makes him worse than a Gaylander driver, by Christ he may even be a slitty driver!!

I think its pretty good to be honest.

Although some of the things in anything goes shouldnt be available on the internet let alone go in a book. :doh:

level head and a sense of humour required. If you've got those you should do great.

Hi Dave an welcome. You can do an article on my 90s sponsored rebuild into a fully kitted out expedition/off road beast/posing motor.
I really don't mind you using my 90 and I wont charge, just leave all the bits on and they can use it, driven by me to shows etc for a year:D
I am very photogenic and it would make a great article for ya magazine:D:D:D
 
Thanks for the mixed welcome. No, I'm not spam. Real thing I'm afraid. And no, I'm not a Freelander driver, nor a woman (I take it that's what you mean by "slitty driver"?).
For the record, I own and drive a 300Tdi Discovery (I've had it six years). My first Land Rover was an elderly Range Rover 3.5 V8, bought in 1995. Since then I've driven them all over the place, including across Australia and several bits of Africa.
But c**p at mechanicals: keen but pretty hopeless.
I'm also useless at forum abbreviations and the stuff young folk write like "IMO" and "OP". I'm a bit worried about them. Did you hear about the woman of a certain age who put "LOL" at the end of an email offering her sympathy to a friend who had had a bereavement? It turned out she thought "LOL" stood for "Lots of love"...
But I'm great at arguing the toss about anything at all.

Ok so to help you out. A SLITTY is a 4x4 other than a land rover or jap crap to be accurate. :rolleyes:

IMO = in my opinion, IIRC = if i remember correctly, OP = original post or original poster Theres loads more but you'll get used to them.

I havent heard the LOL on the end of a letter one but sounds a cracker. get into a ot of trouble with that. :eek:

Hiya David

Welcome to Landyzone.

Don't mind the inmates. They are just a little sceptical. Make sure that you wear your thickest rhino skin coat for the first couple of weeks and then fingers crossed you'll have gotten used to what they think is humour.

Spelling and punctuation aren't the best on here so you may have to re-read some posts a couple of times before the penny drops.

In respect of your responses sir, may I take this opportunity to welcome you to one of, if not the, best Landy forum out there.

As Ratty has said dont take our (mainly mine, I think:eek:) initial responses as hostility, its just the way we roll round here, rhino skin coat, tether line on all dummies and toys round the pram and you will be fine.

Welcome.

Maybe you could use your influence and knowledge of dodgy people gained from here to prevent adverts in magazines. There are a few that change their names regularly and never deliver real part or are of dubious origin.
