low range problem

while driving on wood roads in low range for about 5 miles stopped for a while turned and drove on for 1000 feet and wheels locked up and engine stalled had hard time to shift out of low range when it did shift to high range and drove home, no noise, now when I shift into low range it will not move.any suggestion before I take out transfer case?

Broken shaft at the front?
Can you jack up the front then turn the wheels to see if the prop and other wheel turns?
If that seems ok then I'd assume it's something in the output box. Maybe take off the front cover and check the selector shafts move ok.
