Hello,

After having use of my parents Defender 110 CSW 300tdi I have decided it's time I make the leap into owning my own LR to help cart my trials bike around as my current car (Audi A5) isn't really suited to this job.

So this Saturday I hope to go view a discovery 2 landmark edition. Other than the usual rust is there any other areas that need to be checked?

This is my parents 110,

Don't worry, the hi lift is no longer there. Currently off the road with the welder, then to get a few jobs done before it's mot.

Decided against the discovery, purely because I prefer the traditional land rover shape so I am now pursueing a 90 with the 300tdi engine. Looks like the audi will be gone this weekend so I hope to go view a 90 next week. What were peoples first modification?

Never had a defender but if I did I would do things in this order
Tracker
Steering lock (crooklock)
Pedal lock
Handbrake/gearstick crook lock
Anti theft door hinges
Updated door handles
Extra padlocks

No but seriously if I did buy a defender I would spend as much as I could afford on security then a little bit more ;)

What trials bike you got cuz I'm into mtb but suspect it's not that kind of trials bike :)

Tracker....

Hadn’t thought about that due to where I currently live.

Pedal power I have a onza bird. Wish I never sold my zoo! Pitbull which had loads of Chris king parts on it. However the bike that’ll be getting carried around is a gas gas txt2000 250cc.

Will be using a Dave cooper motorbike carrier.

Some serious toys then! I make do with a voodoo for cross country stuff with the kids so I can afford decent bikes for them :)

Seen those security pedal boxes? Are they any good?

I've got a shire fabrications one on my disco. Its a hefty lump but ain't a chore to use, bit of a pain to store when driving though. As in somewhere it won't take my head off in event of a shunt

I'd recommend one for the price and they're bright yellow so good visual deterrent as well. Can be had cheap second hand I paid £20 for mine

Just put V8 badges all over it. :):):):) the ultimate theft deterrent ;)

Sounds like a good idea hahah

I always keep a tool box on me so I’m sure I’ll find room in there.

What's to say it'll be your house they steal it from??

That’s true, just where I currently live is argyll. Either brave or stupid to steal anything down here

Went to look at 2x 90’s on Tuesday. First one had a good chassis but a few too many niggles. Some small, some big so decided not to pursue it. The second would have been ideal at the right price as it needed some winter preparation.

Off on Saturday to look at a few more
