Looking for a possible favour?

As the title says, I looking for a favour, if possible.
I've owned a discovery 1 300 tdi for the last 4 years. I love it and the fact that I can do most of my iwn repairs and servicing quite easily and being able to run it on my home made bio diesel. But....I've always wanted a defender. I bought the discovery because I have a 100 mile round trip to work and wanted a bit of comfort. However, I'm retiring soon and still fancy a defender. Although I won't have the long journey to work, it'll still be my every day drive. I've not driven a tdi defender and wondered if there is anyone local to east Bergholt/manningtree/Dedham, etc, who has one and would't mind letting me have a little test drive to see if I could live with one as an every day drive?

Go to a main dealer and say you're interested in buying one.

A main dealer won't have a 300 tdi, I wouldn't have thought?

Why not look at getting into contact with your local Landy owners club. You may find a weird bunch of people, But one of them may be willing to let you drive, plus they may know where a good one is for sale.

Sorry, mate. Misread the post. I'd logged the 300tdi with the Disco and for some reason thought you were after a newer Tdci Defender.

No worries. I love the 300 tdi for its simplicity. If I own another Land Rover, it's got to be a 300 tdi.

To be brutally honest with You, and in no way wishing to be a nay sayer. After all I purchased a 300tdi 7 seater hard top and made it into the Avatar picture.

But unless it is an unrelenting itch in a very hard place to get to , If i was you I would continue with the Disco. For the cost against what you get and the difference in off road ability then the Disco is a better day to day driver. If you keep on top of any rust issues then it will last for ever.

Having said that , I will get rid of my D2 TD5 before the 90 goes.
