If you`re looking for someone to hold you back and scream "don`t do it!", it ain`t me. Let us know how she looks in the flesh, as it were. Would assume it`s been correctly maintained which is a definate plus.

Drove 2.5 hours to look at it and, to be honest, for the money he was asking it's quite ****.

Both front footwells are soaked so they're rotten, but rear wheel arches (inside the door shut) have rusted through with great big holes, the rear cross member has also rusted through on one side. Not impressed.

I do wonder why sellers cant be more honest with people - do they hope people won't notice massive rust holes?? Quite annoyed really, wasted a while afternoon and half a tank of diesel for nothing. Brilliant.

So, the search continues...

On the plus side (and it`s only a small plus) you won`t be sat here this time next week kicking yourself for not going to see it ! (dunno if I said that right, but you know what I mean)

Anytime i see ''ex-military'' or similar, i move along...it seems to be that the majority of them are **** and people are trying to use their ex-mil status as some sort of 'wow' factor...

To the best of my knowledge the Regiment never used RR`s in the desert, so no "pink" ones. There are records of using them in urban theatres for counter -terrorism, I`ve seen photos of a couple with strengthened roof racks and adapted front bumpers, in both cases to mount ladders for access to buildings, but for obvious reasons its difficult to tell what they`ve done to the inside. I`d have been interested in how the dealer was going to prove the provenance of the vehicle, it won`t list anything remotely interesting under previous owners and I`d be amazed if it ever had a military registration for you to check back.
Have a look at Barry Davies` book on the illustrated history of the Regiment if you`re still interested - the chapter on counter-terrorism - there are photos on there of a couple of e platers

It's a ex military RR at best, who it was used by is irrelivent and adds nothing to it's value. As a matter of fact probably detracts from it as it will have been hammered. It's what it's done since it was military, which is possibly a long time ago, that is most important. Sounds to have been rusting merrily to me.

or saturdays and sundays(better known as the TA):):) Wasnt having a pop Wammers,my cousin was in the job.

Didn't think you were mate. Just that the SAS get all the credit and do all the bragging. The SBS are the ones nobody knows about, they like it that way.
