I have a 1999 discovery 2 td5 auto,
I bought it 6 months ago, it has been going everyday up until this morning!
There is no key barrel in the drivers door, So, I have been using remote locking on key,
Today it refused to work, I changed battery on remote, no difference,
I can lift drivers and passengers door buttons from outside with a piece of wire,
But doors won’t open. I have tried pushing open button 10 times (found that in a forum)
No luck
How do I get into it?
Any help at all

Never mind my last post, fixed for the present, I had tried a few times to feel around with a screw
Driver in the hole where barrel of door lock should have been, this time, I got indicators to flash
Then tried again and doors unlocked, alarm went off, put key in ignition and all back to normal.
I think I tripped the door lock activator.
Reset itself
Cheers anyway

The BCU went to sleep mode then it needs a door switch command with the key to wake up, it's common... though better fix that barrel cos if you end up immobilised due to RF receiver failure(which is common as well) you'll not be ble to insert the EKA code.

Thank you for your reply,
Yes, I will have get it sorted out,
I will probably have to get both door and ignition changed, matched and reset.
Or can they match door lock via VIN number etc
Does that sound right?
Thoughts

You dont need to reset anything cos the key blade is changeable and you can cut a new one and keep the fob which is programmed if you see what i mean

Thanks again,
my barrel doesn’t exist at all
So I Need to get a replacement barrel matched to my key?.
Who would do that?

No, i meant that if you buy a door and ignition barrel with the same key you dont need programming as you can cut and change the blade in the fob... but simple is to fit a barrel and keep it's fobless key on the same ring with the original keyfob which works with the ignition

Thank you so much, for kick starting my common sense
I completely over looked all memory is in the fob and keys and locks can be changed
Might be cheaper and easier to use your 2nd method get another barrel and key for
The door for those emergencies. Now a priority.
I used to do repo’s 25 years ago, I know I’m rusty, But never had that much trouble getting
In to vehicle, if the screwdriver hadn’t of worked in lock barrel on the actuator, it would have been a window
Replacement
Thanks again
Jesse

If you'lll ever have to force yourself in better remove the tail door window cos then only a new seal is needed to refit it
