Lightweight gun rack?

Hello all
I've recently bought a Lightweight and would like to know what the structure is behind the seats. My pal says it's a gun rack. Can you help me. Also there were some brackets attached to it. See pics. What are they?

The last phots are clamps for the SLR or were they for the SMG (I can't remember) They are not complete. They should have two semi circular 'clamps' covered with leather to grip the weapon. I'll see if I can find a photo of a complete one.
