License tag removal

How do I get the license tag off?
Is it glued on?
If I pull it off will the paint come with it?

If it's not screwed on, it will be double-sided tape.
Pour a load of boiling water down the back of the plate - that will soften the adhesive. Then pull it off.
WD40 is good for removing the sticky residue that will remain on the paintwork.
