Late S1 Freelander SE Alarm/Lock Question

My 53 plate 5 door does a weird thing.

9 times out of 10 if I unlock, with fob the car it beeps at me for 10 seconds. Then stops.
Alarm doesn't sound
If I stick my keys in the ignition it stops.

Anyone know why?

All else works fine.

Is the red light flahing on the dash?

If so it's the battery in the key fob that needs replacing
