Landy 110 defender

Hi all, I have a Landy 110 defender, prior to the 110 I had my beloved 90....an accident late last year ended the life of my recently restored 90 resulting in me shopping for next Landy ride, hence the 110. I have recently had issues with a strange grinding/rattling sound coming from the cab area, it is prevalent when I increase speed from 25mph and go into 3rd gear and is there constantly in 4th & 5th, it has also affected pull in those gears...ANY ADVICE on where to start would be appreciated???

Have you done a full fluids & filters service on it yet?

If not, do one ASAP and see what chunks fall out of the main gearbox and transfer box.

Thanks dieseldog, I haven't done anything yet, but was thinking thats my 1st job on the list, I'm not the greatest mechanic in the world by a long shot...possibly the worst. I have been sick with a stomach complaint and haven't been well enough to get underneath but anxiously waiting to recover to start on her...any advice is appreciated. Kind regards

What age is your 110?

Depending o what year it will have either an LT77 or an R380 gearbox, both will have basic gauze type strainers on and you're best to look up a video on YouTube specific to your box for more info but certainly worth doing.
