1988 Landrover 90 for sale.

Currently has 178,000 on the clock but the engine has been convereted from the original 19J to a genuine defender 200tdi engine with only 80,000 miles covered.

Mot until November next year.
Galv chassis put on in the past which is in great condition with no rust or rot.
2" Lift with BF goodrich all terrain tyres which have only covered 1500 miles

The bulk needs attention but will last for a good while still.

The car drives great and would make a ideal project for someone.

Happy to give alot more details to people who are interested, have aload of spares which will come with it aswell.

Looijg for £5000 which is less than I paid and have spent a couple of grand since

Thanks for looking

I don't think that's an original Defender 200Tdi. The turbo is in the right place but the timing belt case is a Discovery one? Still looks a good conversion though and it looks like a nice 90.

Your not wrong mate... Everything is defender expect for timing cover which I have waiting to be changed

Not meaning to be picky, but then it's a Discovery engine with a Defender turbo? And to make it more Defender-like you're going to change the timing case? I can't see any reason why anyone would replace the timing cover on a Defender engine to a Discovery cover unless they wanted to fit another alternator or an aircon pump, but that is pretty rare to have had that done as people find alternative ways of doing this to prevent the ballache of replacing the case. So I'd think that it being a 'genuine Defender 200tdi engine' is not strictly true?

I'm sure you're not making it up and I'm not trying to start an argument, but I had a late night last night (meeting at work) and I'm just grumpy today. It is still a nice 90 though.

I agree to be honest. What I think has happened is that when the conversion took place the 'defender engine' did not have a timing cover with it ( maybe sold separate due to how rare they are), that is literally the only disco part on the engine, even the alt bracket etc are defender brackets. It is a strange set up which many people have also said, hence the reason I bought a defender timing case to make sure it is 100% defender engine.

I'm sure you're right but we're a bunch of picky tossers who can spot something that isn't right a mile off. Using the 'genuine Defender 200tdi engine' quote when it clearly isn't a full Defender engine will get people like me questioning it. If you'd just said 200tdi engine then I'd have just sat back and clicked on the next post. Actually, I'd have probably commented on how good it was to have a Defender turbo on it.

Anyway, like I said I wasn't trying to pick a fight and I'm sure what you're saying is absolutely true. And regardless of what I've said I wish you good luck with your sale.
