currently running an old 110 with a disco 200tdi
i want to lower the windscreen in certain situations but have a bonnet mounted spare wheel.
does the spare have to be moved?
if so what goes between the screen and the bonnet to prevent the glass from smashing.
also thinking of building a swb from scratch
any sugestions of the best transmission/chassis/engine set up
not too complicated, my weldings crap but i can weild a mean spanner
all help appreciated
thanks
dave

to fold your windscreen over you will have to move the wheel. you will also need to source hinges from the older series vehicles as the ones currently fitted to your 110 will prob be the newer solid type. then you have to replace the doors with those that have removable tops. i dont know as i havent done this, but i guess there are bumpstops which screw somewhere to lay the windshield flat.

as for building a landy from scratch... wont that be very very expensive?

anyway:

galv 90 chassis
300tdi engine with r380 gearbox
portal axles

the list is endless. but you wont go far wrong with a 90 300tdi

thanks for the advice griffdowg, i managed to find it in between the john travolta with jaundice and the dutch tranvestite's love letters.

my 110 was one of the first and has the hinges, i'm in the process of sourcing the series doors.

i'm also looking to convert the van back to a full canvas so i'll be scouring the auto jumbles for the bits i need

called dobermandave cause i used to have a couple of ex-guard dogs which were a bit mad. no problems now though, i breed working cockers. not personally of course, i'll leave that to the dutch dame edna and his boyfriend
