P.S none of the eka codes seem to be working and they are the ones that came with the manual when I brought it, how do I fix this?

Mark

Hi again,

go thru this list:

Use this list.
1) Does the Red Led on the fob light up when you press any of the buttons?
2) Does the same led light up when you press the unlock button?
3) is the little red led on the car dash flashing once every 2 seconds? ( approx )
4) Has it worked OK up to now?
5) Do you have a rear sunroof?
6) has the car got wet recently?
7) Have you ever used the EKA before?
8) What is the format of the EKA code written in, give an example , but not the exact EKA code.
9) Does your car door lock work correctly? locking / unlocking.
Cheers

There is only one EKA code per vehicle.

What info are you using to enter it into the car?

These files are the ones from the 2000 manual. is it the same?

1) Does the Red Led on the fob light up when you press any of the buttons? yeah it lights up
2) Does the same led light up when you press the unlock button? yeah
3) is the little red led on the car dash flashing once every 2 seconds? ( approx ) it is flashing around 2 - 5 seconds a time approx
4) Has it worked OK up to now? it was working then stopped and started again now it has stopped completely
5) Do you have a rear sunroof? it has a sun roof near the front that but the car isn't damp under the roof lining as I have checked
6) has the car got wet recently? checked daily only gets wet when the weather is cold but do check daily since this problem first started about a week ago
7) Have you ever used the EKA before? yeah but not worked
8) What is the format of the EKA code written in, give an example , but not the exact EKA code. its like 12/4/5/2/13 not the real one though but like the format
9) Does your car door lock work correctly? locking / unlocking. only with the key but still cant drive it as it cuts out after around 30 seconds of being turned over
Cheers

Yes these are the same I have followed the manual to what it says but the eka just don't seem to be working

OK, the EKA code is only a 4 digit code.

Have you got one of those. As the one above is a 5 digit code.

Cheers

we have 2 codes one is 4 which doesn't seem to work and the other is a 5 that never worked and my manual says it a 6 digit code but I have no 6 digit code I have spoke to a local land rover specialist but they said to bring the 4x4 to them but I cant do that if I cant start the car to drive it there.. is there a way to bypass it or turn of the key fob/receiver to use it as just the key on its own?

Once code entered did it beep once or twice?
So you waited 5 minutes after entering the code?

Do you have a rear sunroof?

Cheers
it has sun roof by front of the car and it did not beep at all. ive been told its the receiver also there is no earth connecting to the receiver or near it in the roof lining my 4x4 is same as this photo that I have got of google images

Your manual should not say a 6 digit code, where does it say this?

The EKA code for the D2 should be a 4 digit code.

Did it beep when you first turned the key towards the front of the car the first time?

Yeah it beep when I turned the key towards the bonet for the 5 seconds but that was the only time I tried the default code of 1515 but that never worked just really need someone to come and help me get it working as I don't know anything about car or 4x4s I have tried what I been told by local specialist`s but nothing seems to work I have also been told that a rover 75 key receiver might work in it if you know any thing I can buy or try other then eka please help with any advice thank you

There is no such thing as a default code for the D2 , it is an urban myth.

If it beeps when you turn the key to the front for 5 seconds, then you need to read the above attachements ( Not the manual you have ) and follow them letter for letter , it should beep once or twice after code is entered. If it beeps to say code is correct then wait 5 minutes and enter vehicle.

Do you have another 4 digit code other than 1515?

Cheers

If you can get another RF receiver to use then you could try opening the car and changing it.

As your car does not have a rear sunroof then I do not know if it is in the same place as a car with a rear sunroof. In a car with a rear sunroof it would be under the roof lining just in front of the rear sunroof.

Cheers

I think it might be the way its been written would it be the same code as the radio maybe as the one on the card is 5/6 digits and hard to work out I can send a photo if it any good to you?

the receiver is in the roof lining near the middle towards the boot between the to windows at the top

The EKA can be shown as 6 digits, but that's only to make it easier to count the number of times to go one way or the other with the key.
In reality the EKA is actually a set of hexadecimal numbers and that way will only ever be 4 digits. Hexadecimal is actually counting to the base of 16, unlike what we use every day which is base 10.
As a result, the inclusion of the digits "A (10), B (11), C (12), D (13), E (14) and F (15)" can give rise to some confusion, especially with regard to the position of the 1.

I take it the VIN number matches your car.

Go and try the above attachments using the second code, see if it gives you the one or two beep after code is entered.

Cheers
