My dad's disco has done many miles over the 21 years of it's existence, The chassis is still very, very good. The standard, factory fitted 300tdi, also, still in good nick. Just the body letting it down now :(
Me and me dad were thinking, taking inspiration from A 4x4 Is Born, by Mark Evans, to take the disco chassis, take the body off, engine out, everything. Start work on it, cutting off old outriggers, replacing them... So i could fit on a modified 110 body? right? would there be serious issues i could not get round? i know the swan neck is different on a disco.. But that's the one thing concerning me the most...
What are your thoughts on this subject?

If it's just the back end of the body that's kaputt, I've seen a decent pickup conversion using a shortened disco body and a 110 HCPU tub :D

You mean, a disco front end with a 110 tub on it?

Yeah, can't find the pictures of it atm, but it basically used the disco rear door and parts of the surrounding bodywork to make a proper 2-door truck cab, then added a 130 crew cab pickup tub on the back. Very well finished and almost looked like a factory-standard model.

There's some build pictures on page 1 of that thread. I think you'd need the 130 tub to get the wheel arches in the right place. A bit of work needed on the rear corners of the cab to fill in the unused spaces for the discovery's light clusters. With the body panel lines properly aligned I think it looks quite professional.
