Hi all I’m looking for a drivers side headlight lens for my 2006 l322 .
iv been hunting the net for days and can’t find anywhere that sells the lens without the rest of the light . iv tried sanding and the restoration kits but the lens keeps fogging iv even tried restoring both sides but still no luck with it
If anyone nows were I can buy a lens I’d be eternally grateful MOT due soon so I’m getting worried
Thanks for any help
Andy

Yes there sealed but you can get them off with a heat gun and a little patience
I’ll need to have another search the only new ones I could find were for a 2008 sport from headlight headlamps but they don’t have them for my model I was hoping that the sport headlights would have been the same lens size and could have got them they look very similar
Thanks for helping here goes another night of searching the net

Are we talking about the same thing? Lens = glass on front of unit? If so they don't need a heat lamp. If not then you'll never find what you're looking for because you're using the wrong term to describe it.

Yes headlight lens the front glass/plastic part of the head light the heat gun is to separate the lens from the main part of the head light as the glue needs to be softened to prize them apart
Headlight headlamps is the name of the site I found the Lens for the Range Rover sport sorry for any confusion
I’m going to try sanding this one down a bit more hopefully I’ll get it to clear still can’t find any on the net
Thanks again for help

If it’s plastic then it is the later 2006 facelift type that some people put the whole unit in the oven to remove the front lense / cover so they can paint the internals black or fit LED halos. If you can buy a separate one then somebody has removed it from a unit with heat. The glass one @gold rover kindly put up is for up to 2005 as the cut out at the bottom is for the headlight wiper.
I have restored a number of plastic headlights that have the the UV protective coating starting to breakdown given the ugly yellow or frosted look.

If the lense is particularly bad I use a mini DA and 600 grit wet or dry with soapy water, then 1000, 1500, 2000 abralon pads, 4000 abralon and then G3 cutting compound and polish with a mini polisher with a white sponge head. It only takes a matter of minutes for each grade.

If you don’t have a DA you probably want to stick with a cutting compound and polish.
There is a UV protect treatment you can apply but all the headlights I have done have stayed clear.

My bad , I was thinking, due it being a 2006, it was the same as mine. Would powerfulUK, or however they spell it, do the part?

If yours is 2006 and has the glass headlights it must be a changeover model from early 2006 I would guess ?
I wouldn't think it was available as a spare as strictly speaking it isn't 'removable'.
I would have thought a second hand complete unit with internal or lug damage would be the way to go

I should be so lucky. Mine is 2002 but the diesel runs from 2002-2006 then changes 'supposedly' in 2007. Making me think a 2006 would be the same as a 2002. It's easy to get confused when you're my age ;)

Understood, the 2006 i have been working on is the TD6 but the exterior is the facelift, i would imagine the engines ran on a little longer before changing to the Jag diesels.

Thanks iv done the lense like holiday chicken said and there come out really good compared to what they were do thanks very much I’m fitting drl’s to them I’m trying to find out if there’s an egnition live fuse I can piggy back on in the engine compartment fuse box anyone got any ideas
I’ll post some pics of the lights when I’m finished them and thanks again every one for the help and advice

front electric fan possibly although wires are pretty thick up near the top left of the rad as you look at it although i am not sure if one of these is a permanent live, the small wires feeds from the engine ECU so I wouldn't connect to that and whatever you do make sure you have a fuse near the source of the connection. Failing that you could tap into something inside the main engine electric box but my concern would be coming off anything that directly powers an ECU but there are some fused 30 Amp supplies in there and i would again provide another low amp fuse at the point of connection.

i took the supply for my LED's off my sidelights as i wanted to be able to turn them off in case I met anyone from landyzone...

I'm not surprised, as you'd never live it down ;) I might have to make you wear the suit that chafes a little more, having seen that little snippet :D
Bloody day running lights! Grrrrrrrr

I know I know , it was a phase I was going through , it’s ok though I dont turn them on and you can only just see them at night when the headlights are on
It was so embarrassed it hid under a blanket

Can u not change your settings in the becm to have have day running lights on instead of having to fit more leds

There is a setting to do that I have seen in my Faultmate but wanted the LED halo lights and I guess the OP wants the look of whatever LED lights he is fitting.
I am going to use the excuse of making it more visible to pedestrians and other road users even if in my case they are thinking that they won’t walk out in front of that stupid looking quiet car. :)
