Hi all,
Hope your all ok and staying safe, iv got a problem with my 2002 Range Rover 4.4 v8, a few weeks ago it broke down with transmission failer on the display, I got the car home and found that the gearbox had coolant in with the oil, I had replaced the cooler and thermostat in June last year, iv flushed the system and fitted a new cooler the car moves forward then bangs and trans failer comes it goes from 1st to fifth gear, iv plug it in and comes up with 3b incorrect gear ratio also reverse drops in and and out when reversing. Would this be down to having coolant in the gearbox..
Thanks for your help darren.

Did you use the correct old when re-filling the gearbox and did you check the level at the correct temperature?
@Bemble is the man who would know the answer.

One problem is that draining the ATF doesn't remove it all, a lot is trapped in the torque converter so there will still be coolant in there unless you vacced it all out.
Yes there was a lot in there I managed to get it all out and checked the line to the cooler and was clean oil coming through also drained the gearbox again and oil looks good still.
