L322 Entertainment System Dead

Hi going into my Ranger Rover the other day I started the car only to find the whole entertainment system dead, cd/radio, sat nav, rear cam etc everything totally gone. I checked and changed the fuses and did all the other stuff which I was advised to do. I purchased a new touch screen unit and fitted this and still the same. Anyone have any suggestions on what do to next.

As your Range(r) Rover is a 2006 MY it will have a M.O.S.T (Media Oriented, System Transport) Fibre optic bus for the infotainment.

This is a great system, but it does have the downside of being an inter dependant chain with each ECU relaying the optic light from the predecessor in the chain. If any one goes off line, through loss of power or other fault, the whole bus goes down. There are ways to track and follow the chain to the offending ECU though.

However when this happens, the screen then typically displays only the LR logo.

You say you system is totally dead though, which is a bit different, as that sounds more like a problem with the Infotainment relay in the Boots RHS fuse box, which is controlled by the vehicles IHU (Intergrated Head Unit) and supplies power to many of the infotainment systems whenever it is turned on.

If you can better confirm your definition your definition of dead, i might be able to help you more.

I am experiencing the problem described. The front screen displays the Land Rover logo and the orange light on the main on/off button flashes.

I'd be very keen to understand how I can track down which component is causing the issue or if the MOST fibre optic cable itself has a fault/break somewhere?

Look for water in the connectors in the box of tricks in the boot nearside behind the trim. The pins corrode off

Hello there I am experiencing the same as dv3 total shutdown of the entertainment system, I have checked and changed the relay in the back that is controlled by the IHU there was no joy until I forced the relay closed then the screen came on with just the logo I got the diagnostics screen on with the code tried the most test and just saying no power and you haft to pull the relay back out to turn the screen off even when the key is pulled out, but the sat nav works but everything else is a no go, also when first closing the relay to make the screen come one the fibre optics in the back all fire up for a few seconds then go off, we have put the fibre optics loop on the media centre at the back but no joy there, if you could give me any help it would be much appreciated

Go look for water in the nearside rear quarter where all the gubbins is housed, my mates L322 has had the system die a couple of times, in each case it was due to water ingress.

Hello datatek, have checked the rear quarter I has had a waterproof lining on it and no evidence of water checked all the rear systems with the loop and all light up on the fibre optics plus I had a audio diagnostics guy look at them and the rear entertainment system seemed ok, it’s a mystery
