The cup holder below the left hand dash vent is stuck. How does the plastic moulding come off?

Also thinking about running a +12V supply up to my windscreen mounted satnav bracket to avoid the curly lead going from the lighter going across the dashboard. Does the dash top come off if I undo the 8 torx screws?

Cheers!

To get the cup holder out..............

remove the plastic end off the dash, it just clips in, you may need to pull the door seal off a bit to get it out, once thats off, there is an 8mm bolt holding the cup holder in, remove the bolt then push the holder out from behind.

To get the dash top off, remove all the big torx bolts, flip out the center dash speaker grille and remove the speaker and rthe 2 torx screws either side of it. remove the vents at each end of the dash, these are held in by clips which need to be prised inwards, look into the vent and you'll see them, once all the clips are prised inwards, push the vent out from behind (after removing the dash end caps, remove the cup holder, again!!! then you need to remove the housings that the vents were in, these are held in with torx screws. carefully take out the vent housings, once these are out, there is a torx screw either side of the dash, take these out then pull the dash top towards you and lift out.

Live feed for sat nav can be wired to ciggy lighter as this is permenant fed

Ahoy clutchdust

perhaps you can help

I have a 2001 p38
it has the VDO dayton "inbuilt" Nav system built in
my problem is the brightness on the screen needs brightening as via the software it wont brighten up enough. this is possible according to the VDO manual.

youve guessed it the screen is buried in the dash and the dash has the wallnut "vanner"

reading rave ir speaks of removing the side panel screws (4 in total) of the the centre console side panels

are there extra fixings iam missing somewhere??

any help would be apprecialted

happy trails
Abe
