Hi,

Apologies if this has been touched on before, i have looked and cannot see anything.

Can anyone point me in the right direction or tell me if there is a service mode or a way to lock the suspension out in one mode on a L322 TD6 2004 ?

So i can jack it up without using the worlds tallest jack

Thanks ;)

Regardless of locking it up, as you lift the vehicle, the suspension will articulate and you'll have to lift it the full height anyway.

I set the vehicle at extended ride height, open a door (the tailgate on the L322 doesn't freeze the system) and then use a Sealy 3 tonne high lift Yankee jack with a block of wood on it (4" square) on the sill jacking point to get the lift.

If I need to do the rears both at the same time, using a telescoping 12 tonne bottle jack on a couple of pieces of wood, and lift on the rear subframe beam ahead of the rear diff...

I have even used a 45 tonne Aircraft Axle Jack!!

But regardless, unless you fancy lifting on the lower wishbone (ill advised) you will have to lift the full travel of the suspension in anycase.

Okay, so in short i need a beefier Jack !! :D

I suppose if you need to leave it jacked up if im waiting for a part it will have to be on axle stands on a chassis point so i can shut the door s etc

Surely if the air suspension was locked out on its lowest setting for example, yes you would need to jack it up to the point of full articulation but not the excess air bag ?

As you jack up, the bag will expand it just won't be full of air! You will still need to lift the full suspension travel....

You can support on stands and close doors, but the system *may* not like you afterwards as it will sense the wheel lifted is higher than the rest, then try to deflate the air bag to lower the car, if that fails, it may start to inflate the other air bags to raise the vehicle up to match (this could lead to an unstable car with it moving about will jacked) when it realises it can't level the vehicle, it *may* throw a fault code.

If you need to leave the vehicle jacked on stands, best option is to get in the car, press the centre console locking button (to lock ALL the doors and Tail Gate) then open the drivers door using the handle (pull twice), open the bonnet, disconnect the battery, close bonnet then lock the drivers door using the key (OH - Make sure the key works in the lock first!).

This way you can lock the vehicle with the battery disconnected, and the ECU will be none the wiser.....

When finished, before you lower the car, unlock the car using the key in the door lock, leave door open, open the bonnet, reconnect battery, lower the car to the ground off the jack, start the engine, it will boing and moan about EAS failure, turn steering lock to lock to reset the Steering Angle Sensor, this will clear the EAS and ABS/HDC warnings, close the door and let the car settle - Note: due to the suspension geometery, it will not fully settle until you have driven it a hundred yards or so.....

But in any case, unless you lift on the lower wishbone (not advised) you will have to lift the full height of the suspension.
