Hope you can help. I bought a 52 Freelander 6 months ago and have spent nearly £4K trying to get rid of a knocking / vibrations under the drivers&front passengers seat when turning in 1st or 2nd Gear. The IRD unitfell out (!) & has been replaced along with the following; both engine mounts, front propshaft, rear propshaft, the exhaust silencer has been re-secured, replaced all 3 diff mounts, front & rear prop bolts, both front suspension arms, centre prop mounts, replaced 2 x bearning inter- shaft, differential mount, 2 x housing & brush and various other bits. I have alos had the 72K serivce (the vehicle has done 68K) replacing the timing belt etc. Picked it up today and the mechanic said that although the major problem - the IRD unit - has been solved the vibration / knocking is still there when in 1st / 2nd gear and turning hard. He said that there is nothing mechanically wrong with the car and not to worry as it is the exhaust moving with the car. The garage has an excellent reputation, but I am still worried as the noise is quite loud - I would like to keep it for another 2 years to get a bit of my money back - but don't want to spend another couple of grand on it. Has anyone got / had / know of the same problem, could it just be the exhaust, or something more major. What else can go wrong????

Ah reckon yer best bet is to get rid off as soon as before ye spend any more more money on it! Ye'll never recoup what ye've payed on it, cut yer losses now, it's not worth it! And just think about what ye're goin' to be payin' on road tax alone.... ;) :D
