Hi just added a 54 td5 pick up to family and on initial drive there’s a knock or clang in forward or reverse but is ok after any ideas been told could be diff ? Will diff from disco td5 fit ?

Plenty of places to look for slack in the drivetrain, I’d start by checking out the a-frame ball joint (alright, not drivetrain, but very common).

Ok I will I replaced them on my 300
I would agree with @bluedog333 check the a frame ball joint for play. If it needs replacing spend the extra (not much) and get the whole carrier. They are a real struggle to get in and out properly even with a press.

I had exactly the same problem (amongst many others) with my TD5 and mine was 100% the rear diff. It could be other things as posted above, but either diff could be the problem.
