Hi guys,as so another problem after 10 happy miles of trouble free motroing :(, the wife tried to unlock the disco last night with the "usual" fob and after sometime and pressing, nothing! she used the key to unlock it from the drivers door, it unlocked and when opened the alarm went off. She pressed the button again (with the alarm sounding) and it worked, turning off the alarm and opening the other doors.
All was fine for the rest of the night, opening and closing various times.
She came home and i said maybe its the fob playing up, and that she should take the spare key just incase next time shes out.
I got home early from work today, so though i would have ago, exactly the same, neither fob worked at all, I opened the drivers door, alarm went off, i pressed the button and the alarm switched off and the other doors opened. Both fobs are now working fine now.
i have read that there is a reciver in the rear headlining, could it be that or something else??

sorry for "war and peace" just trying to explain so iu can get the right help

Cheers

sorry forgot to say that both fobs have new batterys

Are you sure the battery in the Disco itself is in good nick?

It is the time of year when batteries lose their mojo, and D2s aren't tolerant of reduced battery performance, it can bring on all kinds of strange symptoms with the electronics.

Mine stopped locking and unlocking, 3 amigos came on, and the engine wouldnt turn over or start. New battery, whole lot went away.

ok, i hear what your saying and i have read that so thats an idea, But i dont understand that when the alarm goes off, the fobs start to work.......

Opening the driver's door without the alarm going off is what the EKA is all about.
There have been problems noted by some users where there might be some corrosion around the mounting and earthing of the receiver unit so that the range becomes severely reduced, which I believe is above the "B" post on the driver's side, as you say above the headlining.
Since the driver's door seems to be working, as you say both fobs are working, then I wouldn't say it's the driver's door latch assembly.

The drivers door latch is new, and once the fobs "start" working there are fine, it does seem in my simple world that the signals not being picked up from the fob
i will get the EKA code out from the car now:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes: and email it to the missus.

Hi Tillytomp,

You are having fun with your D2.

As you now have a nanocom you can change the EKA code to something easier to remember if you wish.

Also, to stop you keep setting off the alarm , change the aleam setting to "always" in the setting page. this means the fob and the key will disable the alarm.

Cheers

Also, if you have the fault again, climb up near the rear sunroof ( RF receiver is in front of rear sunroof) and try pressing the button.

You may find being closer will help. Access to the rf receiver is via the roof lining in front of the rr sunroof.

Cheers

Ha ha ha, yeah I am, thing is as long as it's only "sillly" bits I don't mind messing with it, I have already changed the code to something easier to use lol
But must admit I didn't see any places to change alarm settings,

Thing is, it works now, so pushing the button close to the reciver isn't gonna do much I don't think.....

Iirc, but double check,

valeo BCU/ settings / alarm other / alarm disarm. ( Key / Key never / Always ) , having a look atht ehnancom website and the emulator.

I changed mine just in case, So I will not wake the neighbours.

Cheers

You can make your neighbours wonder what the hell you are up to, climbing on your rear bumper acting like you are casting a spell over the back of your disco..........

so just taken the reciver out, and unlike some its bone dry within the headlining and the box.
So i put it all back together and its still working fine, but the range has increased massively. i used to have to stand right next to it, doing a moronic wave with my arms to get it to unlock/dis-arm, now i can be some 20foot away. so not quite sure if its fixed or not

yes it did have earthing bolt, which was attached, but did find another "earth" cable up there with a plug on it, so any help on that would be great:D
