Some idea of the vehicle and it's age would be helpful. Also any thing relevant before it stopped working is also helpful, like was there a drop in range, or any beeping from inside the car?

The FL2 key fob battery is charged when inserted in the car. If you habitually use just one of them the ‘spare’ may well be flat when you come to use it. Swap ‘em around occasionally.

Perhaps as the OP hasn’t responded yet he’s realised clucking on the openpadlock symbol doesn’t lock the car and discovered that the closed padlock does the trick.. my keyfob has lost the paint outlines so at first I’d click on the wrong bit quite a few times.. but eventually worked it out and as the battery had died on my “spare” one I sent that off to a very good man on flea bay ( advertised but also shows address & phone so I could check him out via phone and electoral roll before sending off the fob) got a nice new shiny outer case so I know which is which now ....
oh that should read clicking
