I've ordered some dinitrol to give the chassis a good squirting, it has light surface rust all over the chassis so I bought the sandblaster attachment for my Karcher to give the chassis a clean

It's messy but works really well using silica sand, a bit too well  It's made a few holes in the NS chassis in the bit under the passenger door so now it needs welding, the rear crossmember has a hole in it as well in the triangular bit right on the NS end

Off to the welders tomorrow, wonder what that's going to cost  and if he'll find anything else

Oooh I never knew you could get those thanks! Why don't you try and find someone who can weld on here? I'm sure someone would volunteer for a few beer tokens ;) And I have to agree with what squiddy said..

1000 posts whoopeee (that went quick)

which of the K series pressure washers you using with it ? it interests me as i was thinking about getting a spot blaster for when it comes to cleaning my bulkhead up for repair - this might be better (and cheaper)

How much was the attachment ?

Bought it secondhand on ebay for £20, I'm told the sand is expensive though , I er acquired some that was left over from a floor painting job that was used to roughen it up.

It works well but it does make a mess

My Karcher is 15 years old, it's a 695 mobile which cost me £400 at the time, it's pretty powerful and made when they used metal for everything instead of plastic.

I agree about better to know that find out in 3 months when there's a loud crack as i drive over a speed bump:D

Thanks, does it take off just light rust or will it go back to bear metal ??

It took all the paint and light rust off the towbar OK, it's nowhere near as aggressive as a proper sandblaster though, it'd be a slow process to remove really heavy rust but I think it'd do it, I suppose the biggest factor is the power of the jetwash, I think mine is fairy powerful

Did the exact same to mine when I first got it - luckily a mate is a welder who sorted it out!

Ended up replacing most of the b post in the end. However, having rebuilt the landy I'm happy that the chassis was sorted out - well for a couple of years at least. Also managed to get 3 gallons of waxoyl into the chassis and bulkhead - left some interesting patterns this summer when it was warm!!!!

3 Gallons

The rot on mine just looks to be in the chassis rail , once it's welded and checked out i'm going to buy the drain cleaner attachment for my karcher and give it a good squirt before applying the dinitrol
