Hi have any of you guys and gals got/used one of the lithium starter packs. My old lead acid one has reached the end of its days and am looking to replace it.
Doing a search someone recommends to get one over 600A. I have my eyes on a 1000A one, will this be OK ?

The bigger the better especially if you need to start a big engine, 1000A would be good for a 5 litre at least. There have been a couple of threads about lithium jump packs, one quite recently, try the search facility.

Is it for you or your car? How are you feeling? I'm not a fan of booster 's don't know what problems they can cause, perhaps someone with more electrickery knowledge can enlighten us sorry about the pun:rolleyes::D

Have used jump packs for years now and not had any problems. Have used them on loads of different vehicles
Maybe these days I could do with one. Am improving all the time now, not quite ready for the 10k yet though

Cheers could only find the thread where over 600a recommended. Will have another search

I have a couple, a Ring portable and a 450 Amp 12/24 volt booster/charger garage unit. Booster are fine if used properly. But if your car has specific booster starter connections instructions or connection points be sure to read up on them and use them. 450 Amps can fry an ECU without too much trouble.

I bought a 600amp one and so far it's failed to start an Astra, a Corsa and a neighbours poxy 1 litre thing. I'm gonna replace the lead acid battery in my old jump start pack cos that one's brill and it uses the same battery as my BMW R1100RS :D

I've seen the videos of those Noco pocket sized ones in use, I am sceptical how something that small would start a car with a flat battery but, apparently they work:rolleyes:

I think my Tacklife is 600A and it will start a 3.5 litre easy with plenty of life left for another couple of starts. It cost about £60 and is about the size of a vhs tape but a fair bit heavier. Fits in the glove box easily. It includes a touch and USB sockets for charging mobile phones etc. It terms of car related stuff it's the best £60 I've spent. I can only assume the one @backinblack is refering to is faulty.

Found plenty of reviews( couldn't have been looking proper earlier) Suaoki seems to get good reviews on here and other sites. Have ordered the Suaoki U8 1000A at £56.95 Just the peace of mind to have it onboard I guess. At least it wont take up the space the lead acid ones have done and will at least fit in the MX5's boot

@Colthebrummie mines great for charging phones. It may be that the car batteries were too flat. To be fair I know one was well down on juice (10.6v I think) and one had a dicky starter that even the L322 couldn't jump. The Astra did start from my Disco though.

@Rubberknees same make as the one I bought

The one I've ordered is 1000A. Wasn't too sure on 600A after reading a few reviews. Video on utube does show yours starting a Disco with flat battery (3.0 diesel) no problem though

Mines still in the car but in the 3 years I've had it I've only used it 3 times for jump starting (not on mine I might add), used it more for pumping tires up.
