Can anyone help? Firstly the proble... Just bought myself a '98 Freelander 1.8 Xei, been driving it for about a week when I noticed throttle response had become poor with power delivery feeling intermitent, this was at about 70mph. When I slowed down and was driving in 1st 2nd and 3rd the juddery intermitent power delivery was exentuated. Really struggles to get going up a hill.
Looked under the bonnet, found a black plactic canister near the jack, it has air purge valve written on it. Noticed that one of the pipes had sealan all over it where it had obviously been repaired before, so I tried to re-seal, still no improvement. The pipe in question runs from the head of the canister and joins the injection strip near the throttle mechanism. Can any one tell me what the black canister is for starters? have i got unwanted air in my fuel system, how do i get it out etc?! Appreciate any help.
