I wonder if anybody caught the Jeremy Vine R2 interview today at around 13.10.

2 surviving members of a group of guys who for the first time ever drove from England to Singapore in the mid 50s...in what else 2 Series 1 Landrover.

The BBC and David Attenbough Decided to make a documentary of the adventure of these early 20s guys.

Very interesting listening to them...Jeremy earlier in his prog had been taking the Mick out of BMW and the recall and lots of breakdowns they have been having....the very simple land rover was compared as being so simple to fix.

There is some youtube vids they said...I have only found one...not watched it yet.

Missed the interview today - I work from home so I ban myself from daytime TV! I seen the Timeshift, its great, will watch it again now the links are posted. Quite poignant as its now impossilbe due to all the wars.

They have rebuilt one of the Landies and there is talk of shipping it to singapore and driving it back through China and Russia to London.

I just ordered the book written by Tim Slessor who was one of the six.

A book was written by one of the team members called First Overland, it's one of the staples of overland travel journalism. :)

more people were up for that sort of thing back then I think, remember reading a story somewhere of a family who sold up everything and drove to somewhere in Africa in their landy with their kids to start a new life
