Is this true??? Dinitrol Rc800

DINITROL RC800 is a rust converter for use on rust covered surfaces where it kills and then chemically converts rust to a passive organic compound that bonds to the metal surface such as an automotive body.

I would think so, after all, in the UK it's illegal to advertise something which is a lie.
It probably does work on surface rust, but don't expect it to convert rot into anything other than flakes of a black coloured rot. It won't revive your chassis so that you don't need a welder.
It is intended that it's used under their other products to help stop the action of surface rust prior to application I believe.
Phosphoric acid is another rust converter but you need to wash that off and dry the surface before further treatments.

Thanks. Pretty much as i imagined. Still, useful if even to get rid of surfave rust. Id always thought rust, an oxide, was inert thus unconvertible into anything.

There are quite a few rust converters on the market - we use fertan..... but Bilt hamber do one too

Another vote for Fertan here. Because you can mix it with water it penetrates surprising deeply. But as said, it converts rusty rot into more stable black rot.

I used one for the first time on a Mk 2 Escort about 30 years ago. It works but wont stop rust. It only converts the rust that is there at the time. The rust that breaks through a week later is as virulent as ever.
Treat then cover with paint or wax or some other protection or your wasting your time.

I was thinking of pouring it into the the rusty areas then cleaning and painting. But mostly on my Brownchurch roof rack prior to cleaning and painting with Hammerite. Not that the roofrack is badly rusted, but there is some.

Then on the exposed chassis prior to blacking.
