Dont shoot me down here as im not that clever around the spanners, so I already know im possibly into big bucks.

My 106k mile TD5 is leaking trans oil from between the bell housing and engine??, is there an easy fix to temp stop this, if not is it a big bugga off job to replace the seal and what costs do ya think that might be?

Shes starting to judda when i pull up to lights and also feels like shes holding back when under pressure, I thibnk this is due to low oil in the box as i have left her to drip for some months now.

All help greatly appreciated

Is it definately oil and not diesel that's leaking ? Seems unusual at 106k. I would be more inclined to say it's the fuel pressure regulator leaking.

if manual could be clutch fluid ,udder could be dual mass flywheel ,if it is gear box front seal usualy a sign brgs are worn and needs rebuild

Thanks for the replies, I love the "whip the engine out and have a look comment" no chance im afraid.

Im sure its the bell housing seal as my remap warped my manifold so i had a new manifold fitted at JE Engineering in Coventry (highly praised on here) and they told me about the problem.

Is there a sealant that would temp fix it, get me through next 6 months?

Bish bosh spondooleys short at the moment which is never a good place to be for anyone especially if you own a TD5!

Thanks anyway

Its an Auto td5, and im only going by what im told, where engine and gbox meet, i presume?

there ain't one!

you got a problem, it's either the box or the engins leaking both will cost ££££ if you don't sort it.

i changed the engine on my 90 at christmas. And i will be putting an auto box in my 90 very soon.

You could always burn it :boxing:

mine went in to garage with leaking gearbox last week, i feared the worse only to have garage ring 10 mins later to say it wasn't leaking. You can't check the gearbox oil level on a td5 auto, have to top it up whilst going thru all the gears with engine running..All the oil on my gearbox was from overfilling to get it level. Result. Get your car checked asap..If very low on oil changes should be a bit rough, if its engine oil leaking it could get blown back all over autobox and look like its coming from box..
