I've had a split appear in the top intercooler hose of the D3.

Characteristic symptoms (loss of power, smoke, increased fuel use) and sure enough there's a split just above the top bend in the hose. No biggie, taped up for now and will change the hose this week. Looking on youtube it seems a pretty straightforward job.

About to order the new hose - is the extra for a silicone hose worth it?

personally think its better due to there longevity and restricted location , think i paid £80 for all 3 ,

i did also get some T bolt clamps ,

let me know and can give u the sizes of the clamps

ps, still haven’t got round fitting them, the long one is supposed to be easy to fit

Thanks Gary - do the clamps make fitting easier than using the standard pipe clips (asking as the current jubilee clips seem perfectly reusable)

for me , i got the clamps due to the shorter 2 x hoses being in a restricted area , so in theory i could fit and ensure they stayed on and not having a hose blow off with the wider t bolt clamp , they are also stainless so should last

maybe others have fitted silicone ones and can advise if the original clips are up to the job , can’t see them not being reusable

alas it was the access that swayed me to t bolt clamps

Definitely worth it, all my D2 hoses, boost and coolant are in blue silicone. They last much longer and they look damn good. Think I paid about 30 quid for the 3 boost hoses.

3x times that price for a D3, one of them is the best part of a metre long
