Can anybody tell me if my 19J is the better one....

19J33142C

According to my research online, looks like its the better one which means its not the original engine on my 1984 110.

Reason I ask is cheap Discoveries/200 TDI engines are few and far between in my area so if this is the better engine I will give it some tlc and use it for the time being until I can find a 200TDI and also find the guts to tackle an engine swap!!!

James you will have to forgive me but I'm a bit clueless!

This is my first landy and am just trying to figure out if the TD engine in it is the later improved version as there seems to be overwhelming suggestion that the early version is a nightmare.

Regards coated piston tops etc...I wouldnt know how to check for this.

If this is a replacement later engine I will spend the time sprucing it up and keep it.

that was the issue with early engines non coated split the crowns , coated still do but not as quick , if its ok use it , if you like it and its worn have it rebored etc

My engine is a 19J36893C and the truck is a 1991 ex-forestry vehicle with 88940mls on the clock, she's a bit smoky on start up but other than that she seems to be trundling along just nicely, I intend on doing every bit of maintenance that good practice would suggest in order to keep her ticking over
