I am not that mechanically minded but today I jumped into my disco TD5 and when I put my foot down to accellerate in gear the revs go up disproportionatly to the acceleration. ie the clutch sounds like it is riding.
the car hadn't been used for a few days and as I drove round today it seemed to get a bit better.
does the clutch auto-adjust or is it on its way out I can't really do without a vehicle so would rather get it sorted at my convienience rather than end up stuck.
oh and if it is the clutch how much am I looking at at a local garage roughly?
I know there is a few questions there but I just can't afford to end up stuck vehicle-less
any help will be appreciated

Could be sticky if it ain't been used for a few days mate.
Give it a good drive, with some aggressive clutch out action!
