Hi my out of warranty reconditioned IRD is leaking oil .... from pinion oil seal I believe you can replace this seal ......... I am after as much advice on this as possible ... I am tackling this next week. The prop flange looks a real swine to remove......... the seal itself ... will it pop out .... rather like drive shaft seals?????

You mean output to driveshaft or to propshaft? By your description i assume prop flange, but im unsure.

Well the IRD output seal to prop is; prop off, 5 nuts off, and it taps out. Its just a case of remove it , change the O ring and refit. You might loose a little bit of oil , depending on how you jack up the car.

Tip : Scratch a little line in it the indicate which side faces down as the bolts holes are offset :)

On a ramp probably a 5minute job, on your back, who knows :)

Hi I am talking about the IRD pinion output to propshaft. I don't think it is the o ring is leaking ..... I think it is the oil seal actually on the shaft behind prop flange. Is it possible to pop this out without disturbling the 5 casing bolts and oil seal....????
