I was about to buy a sat nav for my trip to Morocco and then had a thought about using my iPad. Has anyone downloaded the Garmin app for iPad with cellular and does it work in Morocco?

I used an app called maps.me. It worked really well for what we needed it for and had downloadable maps for all of the countries we traveled through. Oh, and it's free. If you have data just use google maps

I was wanting something that works off the GPS on my iPad. Google maps whilst gps uses data to load the map picture and the route, and signal isn't guaranteed.

Ok, maps.me would work like that. Or "here maps" if you can get it on an ipad is very good and uses the same system you see in a lot of cars. I haven't tried garmin

Try navmii, it's free to download and covers uk and Ireland, it's £1.99 for extra country maps and Morocco is covered. I have it on iPad and it can download to phones as well. Quite a few extras on the site. The HUD is quite impressive for night driving and costs £3.99, you just put the iPad or phone on the dash and it beams the details up onto the windscreen. It works offline as well.

+1 I love this website. While some of the 'roads' have be questionable when driving through mongolia, it's been fantastic and I've been able to search garages and shops, etc in far away place. Well worth the cost (FREE!!!!).
