Good evening all you Land Rover lovers.

I am a 63 year old child who has had three land Rovers over the past years but only now, since my retirement, have i become seriously interested in my Td5. In the main, this is due to the financial reality of life with 3 children under 16 years and a working wife who can not (will not) understand that the Td5 needs lots of love and a few euro once in a while to keep her anything like fit.

The vehicle is an ex-Irish Electricity Supply Board vehicle which has been very well maintained over the years but driven by users who don't need to care too much about servicing and repair costs!

Over the past three years I have been attempting to refurbish the look and keep the essential mechanics intact. Up until recently the vehicle has been very good and only a few issues of any significance to deal with.

I don't count the daily ingress of rain water that floods the foot wells or, the heavy bouncing clutch or, the lack of usual Land Rover Defender creature comforts. I don't off road but do tow a small horse trailer regularly and have almost no mechanical skills to speak of so need to rely on my local mechanic to keep me on the go.

So that's me and I will be posting lots of stupid questions. My Haynes Manual is about as helpful as my wife when it comes to mechanical things.
