I would, I'd do it tomorrow IF I could be sure of getting all the black trim off ok. Is it easy to remove the top switch pack and dash surround?

Hi Nik,
Non of the trim is difficult to remove as long as you know where the fixing are to.
Instrument housing is pretty easy, switch panel I will look at when I do the heater core o rings at the weekend. The trick is to take your time, and don't force anything. It's very easy to miss the last screw and break it.
I am really pleased with the look so far, just like a Lindley lol.

Did a bit more today but not as much as I had hoped, other things had to take priority.
Managed to spray the window switch panel and flat and polish the rear ashtray and crossbar. Perfect Piano Black finish as required. A lot of work and many hours involved but I think it is worth the effort.

Can you remove the instrument cluster without disconnecting the battery or setting an airbag off? I've seen warnings about making sure the battery is disconnected coz you have to unplug the airbag wiring to take the cluster out. But disconnecting the battery would cause me too many hassles (possibly) - I got locked out last time!

Some on the forum say you can disconnect the airbag without disconnecting the battery but if you turn the ignition on with it disconnected it will log an Airbag fault and the warning light will illuminate. Personally, I wouldn't want to risk the Airbag going off or causing faults. I'm in the same boat, got to do the Heater Core o rings which involves a fair bit of dash stripping. Last time I disconnected the battery I had hells own game to get the keys to re- synch, dispite mine being a later model with so called friendly re-synch but, I would rather that than chancing any other problems. It only takes an accidental short to earth and god knows what problems will manifest themselves.
