So I had a thread that disappeared into the ether a couple of nights ago. I said how my interior light had been giving trouble over the last couple of months, sometimes not coming on when the door was opened and other times not turning off fully when the door was closed, maybe getting 1/4 power. Then it finally gave up and wouldn't work at all. It would still work in the 'On' position but not from the door. I checked the switches at both doors and they were working ok.
So I did a bit of 'exploratory surgery' and couldn't find anything obvious. Having read somewhere that someone had changed a bulb and knocked out a contact I had a look at the fitting itself.

This is what I found.....

The connecting brass strip had completely 'rotted' away.....

Soldered up a bit of a repair.....

And a bit of Gorilla tape to finish it off.....

All back and working again, fading out etc.. Another thing to check if anyone has a similar problem.....

You must be getting the regulation amount of water leaking in through the roof somewhere.

The server that hosts the website had a bit of a malfunction the other day. To get it up and running again the guys had to use a restore point that was taken before a few posts were made. Hence yours, and a few others, vanished.

Great repair :D

Good for you for taking the trouble to actually fix something rather than just swapping it out for a new piece.
Thats exactly the sort of thing I like to do if I can, usually takes me 4 or 5 hours to save a fiver. :D:D
