intercooler service

hi mates...how are u all doing there..hope all are fine and kicking!!..

ive a newbies question....when should the intercooler be serviced??
what should i look out for regarding intercooler related defects/irregularities/symptoms..??

For your info mates..ive just bought(3 month ago) a second hand 1996 model 300tdi disco auto...so ive never touched the intercooler till now...so im kind of at sea...what should or shouldnt be done...???

take it out wash thoroughly with petrol connect it all back to gether except for the top hose run it for 5-10 mins to clear the fumes out then connect top hose job donre if it leaks buy a new one HTH

thanks a lot PALACE...but how to check or know got leaks or not..where to look mate....??..i really have no idea

whilst you got the inter cooler and all hoses off check the turbo bearing for movement aswell and let the intercooler dry out before putting back on , i would say change top and bottom hoses aswell

when it is full of petrol it will find any leaks you have

I keep a spare one soaking ,filled with paraffin,and change them over when theres excessive oil getting to the inlet manifold.Yes ,I know that I should be looking for the source of the oil but I dont want to bugger around with the turbo just now.
