hi everyone, can anybody give me advice on how to fit new inter-cooler to manifold top hose,i am having a hell of a job trying to unscrew the jubilee clip on inter-cooler,it is hidden behind a shroud you can barely see it never mind unscrew it,any advice would be gratefully received.

i undid it with a small spanner .. took forever .. lots of swearing and back ache
refitted it using a long extension fitted with a small socket .. was much easier ..

on refitting be sure to place the clip behind the lip on the intercooler pipe
if not .. it can blow off with turbo pressure .. even if the clip is tight ..

thanks alot guys, the trouble is i can not get a spanner on as it is tight up to the metal cowling and i can not get spanner to pass it to locate on head.do not know how they put it on,got me baffled.

just had a look at mine .. ( been a few years since refitting those hoses )
if you've the jubilee clip type ..
maybe spray some silicone lubricant on it
and then try to .. lever / rotate .. the clip with a screwdriver or similar
until the screw head is in a position you can get to

i suppose there would be a tool .. or method .. to cut it off
would have to be careful ..
not much space there either :-/

and .. yes .. a t-clamp be better than the original item

silicone lubricant be useful anyway ..
helps keep rubber 'n plastics from drying out and rotting
e.g.the door seals .. and similar items ..
and rubber items like the some bits on the gear-change linkage

hi guys, finally managed it thanks for all your help, used a long reach spanner and got it to undo, fitted a new jubilee clip and altered the position of the head so next time it is going to be much easier i hope.

Hi longy44.
I see you solved this now, I did post it up but onto the wrong thread, if you look between the top coolant hose you may just make out the jubilee clip which holds the intercooler hose to the intercooler, you will need a long flat bladed screw driver 10" minimum they can be bought form any diy shop for about £2.00 if you do not have one, hopefully the photo's will explain all to you cheers Arctic.
