Series 3 Installing reverse light query

Evening , I'm installing a reverse light by putting a switch into the selector box , just wondering what wire grading I should use I recently had a mini fire on another project where the wire i melted the coating off itself and didn't want to repeat the same , thanks.

This gives you the sizes and currents for std cable:

You need to know the current which depends on what lamp you use. It will probably draw aound 2A but a its a long run so its worth going up one size.
If you go LED you can use 1/2A cable.

What a lot of people do, me inlcuded, is put a rear work light on with a switch. It must have a warning light and mine is labled "work light". I now have it linked to a wireless reversing camera after being shocked at how many people walk behind me when its clear I'm reversing.
