Hello,

I'm actualy installing a complete new sound system in my Freelander 1, it's a 3 doors model, and I'm stuck with the alimentation of the amplifier for the Sub...

Does someone know where I can pass the power cable of the amplifier from the battery to the inside of the car ? Actually the problem's just to get the cable in the car, I can't find a passage from the engine bay to the inside.

Thanks for the help,

Have a nice evening, Yann

I'm not sure what you mean by "alimentation of the amplifier", but there is a grommet you can use in the top corner of the engine bay on the passenger side. It's a pig to get to and you will need to make a hole in it, but it's the one the manual says to use

I used a french word, I thought it sounded well... Sorry :D
I wanted to say : Power of the amplifer

Okay, thanks for your answer, I noticed two grommets, one in the high part of the engine bay, there are no cables going through, it ends nowhere I think. And I also saw another that is a little bit under, I think you're talking about this one, there are already cables in it but it's hard to acces to it...

So if I undestand well, I will need to cut it to pass my cable through, do you know aproximatively where the cable will arrive, do I need to dismantled something to catch the cable ? Is there something particular that I should be careful with ?

Thanks for the help,

Have a nice evening, Yann

There is a nib on the grommet that you can cut for passing car through, it comes out in passenger foot well / drivers foot well depending on which side you go through

It would depend on what guage wire you are installing. You will struggle to get a cable thicker than a 10 guage through the grommet. What power amplifier are you installing?

Because I was lazy when I installed my amp, I fed the power cable under the floor and run it into the boot through a large grommet.
This is what I did.

Hello,

I used the grommet on the passenger side, it worked perfectly, everything is finished now and it sounds very well !! :D
I put the amplifier in the little box at the back of the car, it's a 600 W amplifier and a JBL GT5 Subwoofer, I also changed all the loudspeakers in the cars and the original head unit for a Alpine head unit.

I just have a problem, the remote control on the steering wheel doesn't work anymore, what can I do for that ?

Nodge68, I saw your installation when I was looking for some informations, you've done very good job, thanks for sharing that with us !!

Thanks for your help, if you want I can put pictures later ?

Have a nice evening !

This is my first land-rover and just wondered exactly where this grommet is ?
The grommets are located in the top corners of the firewall. There's one on both sides, although the drivers side is obscured by the brake servo. The passenger side grommet is visible once you move the fuse box out of the way.

Can anyone tell me how to pass the power wire for amplifier in a land rover freelander (2004-2006)
It been mentioned several times in this very thread.
And again in the quotes below.
