Hello Folks

Has anyone any idea how much having your injectors reconditioned by a 'Bosch' service centre. have sent a couple enquiries out but not heard 'owt' back but that just might be my email/computer/incompetence kicking in?

Second question....Is this a worthwhile procedure(anyone had it done?) or is it 'buy new ones' which I am not particularily wanting to do because of cost and I am a bit of a tight ****!! (Hope the 'censor' stops that word from being posted!!)

Anyway, just a general inquiry..

TIA...

Okay just searched this common problem so now know a couple of figures that I can work off from....Thats why there is a 'SEARCH' facility on most forums....DOHHH!!

Ta just enquiring for 'the now' have to do a leak back test before I go down the worstcase scenario route.... ;-)

The injectors can be a nightmare to get out. Search the forum for advice BEFORE you commit to taking them out.

Yep thanks have had a good look on here and have a decent injector removal set (Well, think I ordered it) have bought quite a lot of tools of late but they are sitting in Scotland and I'm working in Spain..ebay, beer and a **** memory combine so that when I get back home I have 30-40 boxes and parcels and no idea whats in them....It's my version of a 'Grown Ups Christmas'......

Just a word of warning that on my V6 I was removing the injectors and on one, and one only the bottom half detached and remaining in the intake. Easy for me to get out with plyers but not a fun thing to happen.

Hi Liam,

Many thanks that is a major concern of mine and have seen a few posts regards that on other diesel forums and youtube. Got some less 'expensive' routes to go down first but it is one of my future tasks. Thanks again.

The V6, being petrol has its injectors in the intake manifold. This is much easier to deal with than the TD4 with it's direct injection system.

Thanks Nodge was thinking that. I take it the petrol injectors don't have the build up(potentially) of that black carbon/crud around their base that the deisel injectors can have?

If I remember right, a clever course of action might be to buy a set from a reputable breaker (about £35 each last time I looked) and put them in to be tested. If they're OK then it's £25 each for the check, if not then the check is free if you have them reconned.

Okay thanks, I guess you can never have enough injectors :)

That's correct. Petrol injectors don't crud up as much as diesel injectors. They also have a huge mileage life because they are operating at a fraction of the pressure that common rail diesel run at.
